Stanley Strategic Consultants LLP: AI Statement
1. Our Commitment to Innovation and Integrity
At Stanley Strategic Consultants LLP, we recognize that the strategic adoption of generative AI is a defining characteristic of a modern, forward-thinking professional services firm. We embrace these technologies because they allow us to work with greater efficiency and provide more comprehensive reviews for our clients. However, our commitment to innovation is anchored by an uncompromising dedication to our core values: accuracy, trust, and professional integrity.
Our philosophy is that technology must always enhance—rather than replace—professional expertise. We view AI as a sophisticated assistant capable of handling routine tasks and augmenting our analytical reach, but it lacks the nuance required for high-stakes advisory work. In the relationship between the human consultant and the AI tool, the human remains the master and the technology the servant; the AI provides the raw materials, but the human professional provides the final, authoritative craftsmanship.
2. The Principle of Human Responsibility
We operate under a "human-in-the-loop" model, which dictates that AI is an engine for efficiency, not a substitute for professional judgement. Every insight, draft, or piece of research generated by an AI tool is treated strictly as a starting point.
The Core Rule: AI assists; it does not decide. Every member of this firm remains fully and personally responsible for all work produced, regardless of the tools used. AI output is treated as a draft to be interrogated, never a finished product to be trusted unread. As with any work produced within this firm, a Partner remains the ultimate signatory and bearer of responsibility for the final output.
This standard is reinforced by the legal precedent set in R (Ayinde) v Haringey [2025] EWHC 1383 (Admin). The court established that professionals using AI for legal research have a duty to verify accuracy against authoritative sources, famously likening the technology to a talented but inexperienced trainee. While we adopt this "trainee analogy" for our supervisory framework, the firm’s internal verification protocols are designed to exceed this court-mandated minimum. Rigorous, line-by-line supervision is our baseline, ensuring that human responsibility remains the foundation of our work.
3. Rigorous Verification and Quality Assurance
Verification is the cornerstone of our risk management strategy. We are acutely aware that large language models can "hallucinate" or confidently fabricate authority. To mitigate this, we have implemented a non-negotiable quality assurance framework. No document—whether a client-facing report or internal marketing material—leaves a consultant’s desk without passing through our four verification pillars:
4. Approved Tools and Permitted Applications
To ensure data security and professional standardisation, Stanley Strategic Consultants LLP operates a strictly controlled technology ecosystem. We do not permit "shadow IT"; all AI-related work must be conducted through our approved tools:
The use of any other platform for firm business is strictly prohibited without the express approval of the Managing Partner. These tools are used strategically for drafting initial documents, summarising complex data, conducting verified research, and developing marketing content.
Crucially, our technical configuration is a matter of firm-wide compliance: where an approved tool offers an option to exclude inputs from training its model, that option must be selected. This mandatory requirement ensures that our use of powerful technology never comes at the cost of our data security. This controlled approach allows us to bridge the gap between technological power and our strict confidentiality boundaries.
5. Protecting Client Confidentiality and Data Privacy
Confidentiality is a fundamental legal obligation under the UK GDPR. At Stanley Strategic Consultants LLP, we do not believe that convenience justifies a compromise in security.
Our policy regarding data entry is absolute: No identifying client information or specific matter details are ever entered into an AI tool.
The "So What?" of this policy is simple but profound: by adopting a "leave it out" approach, we effectively eliminate the risk of a data breach at the source. If information is never entered into the AI environment, it cannot be leaked, misused, or absorbed into a model. This ensures that while we benefit from the speed of AI, your most sensitive information remains protected under the Data Protection Act 2018 and stays within the secure, human confines of our firm.
6. Leadership, Oversight, and Engagement
The field of Artificial Intelligence is evolving rapidly, and our firm is committed to leading that evolution with responsibility. This statement and our internal policies are reviewed annually to stay ahead of both technological shifts and regulatory requirements.
Transparency is the bedrock of the trust our clients place in us. We invite you to engage with us regarding our use of these tools. Should you have any questions regarding this statement or how these principles apply to your specific matters, please contact Karen Stanley, Managing Partner, who oversees the firm's AI policy and implementation.
At Stanley Strategic Consultants LLP, we remain dedicated to serving our clients by combining the most advanced modern tools with the timeless integrity of professional expertise.
